LexisNexis Appoints Carol DiBattiste as Senior Vice President of Privacy, Security, Compliance and Government Affairs


LexisNexis www.lexisnexis.com), a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today announced the appointment of Carol DiBattiste as senior vice president of privacy, security, compliance and government affairs.  DiBattiste will report directly to Andy Prozes, LexisNexis Group chief executive officer, and will be based in Washington, D.C.

DiBattiste previously served as general counsel and chief privacy officer for ChoicePoint®, which was recently acquired by LexisNexis’ parent company, Reed Elsevier, and which will become part of the LexisNexis® Risk & Information Analytics Group.  As general counsel for ChoicePoint, DiBattiste directed the company's legal activities and as chief privacy officer, she represented the company on all privacy matters, set privacy policy and directed privacy compliance.  She worked with businesses, government, non-profit organizations and the privacy community on credentialing, compliance, privacy and legal matters.  Within this capacity, DiBattiste led a companywide initiative to implement a privacy and information security program that became an industry model.

Prior to ChoicePoint, DiBattiste held several positions within the U.S. government including: Under Secretary of the Air Force (U.S. Department of Defense), Deputy Administrator at the Transportation Security Administration (U.S. Department of Homeland Security), Director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (U.S. Department of Justice), Deputy U.S. Attorney and Assistant U.S. Attorney for the United States Attorneys Office, Southern District of Florida (U.S. Department of Justice), and Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Navy (U.S. Department of Defense).  DiBattiste also served twenty years on active duty in the United States Air Force and was a partner at the law firm of Holland & Knight.

Currently, DiBattiste serves on the Boards of the National Center for Victims of Crime and the Alpha Security Group Corporation.  She is also a trustee for the United States Air Force Academy Falcon Foundation.

DiBattiste earned her bachelor’s of arts degree magna cum laude from LaSalle University.  She was awarded her juris doctor degree from Temple University School of Law and was awarded her master of laws (LL.M) from Columbia University School of Law.  DiBattiste has earned numerous awards throughout her career including being named one of Georgia's Top Lawyers in December 2007, the Transportation and Security Administration's Honor Award in 2005, U.S. Coast Guard Award for Distinguished Public Service in 2005, the Department of Justice Medal for Distinguished Public Service in 2001, and the Department of the Air Force Exceptional Civilian Service Award in 2001, among many others.
